A LEGACY OF EXTRAORDINARY LANDSCAPING SINCE 1968
In 1968, owner John Buonadonna started his landscaping business with nothing more than an old pickup truck and a lawn mower loaned by a customer. From those humble beginnings, the company has grown into one of the oldest and most trusted landscaping companies in Rockland County, New York.
In 2022, Custom Garden Landscaping made the strategic decision to sell off its lawn service division to focus exclusively on high-quality landscape design, construction, and outdoor living projects.
Today, with over 55 years of experience, we proudly serve homeowners, architects, developers, and contractors throughout Rockland County, New York, and Northern Bergen County, New Jersey.

John is an active member and past president of the Pearl River Lions Club. He has been a dedicated Rotarian and past president in the Rotary Club of Pearl River for over 25 years, reflecting a lifelong commitment to community service, integrity, and leadership. These organizations are built on values such as “Service Above Self,” ethical business practices, and giving back to the community – principles that continue to guide how Custom Garden Landscaping operates every day.
He and his wife, Doreen, are lifelong residents of the area, giving them a unique understanding of local properties, landscapes, and customer needs.
This deep local connection, combined with decades of hands-on experience and a strong foundation of service-driven values, allows us to deliver landscaping solutions that are practical, reliable, and enhance your home’s value, livability, and aesthetics.
